You have had a fantastic police career. You have brought Wolverhampton through much change a few challenges, leaving it as one of the top performing policing areas across the board, you have nurtured strong and collaborative relationships with partners and developed multiple leaders, including senior leaders. You can be very proud of the legacy you have left, in Wolverhampton, across the LP portfolio but more importantly across the whole of the West Midlands.

I have to say your help and support was invaluable. You helped me gain a real understanding of the rank and how to prepare for interviews and presentations. Not only was this beneficial in passing my promotion board but you have remained available at times when I needed your counsel. I often speak to people about the benefits of a mentor/coach and recommend that they seek someone out who they trust and who is well invested in this area. I don’t think I would have been successful had it not been for your knowledge, support, patience and encouragement.

Rich, it's been an absolute pleasure working with you on the NWoPC Project. You've been a massive source of support to me, particularly when you took over the role of SRO. You have been a brilliant example of leadership - approachable, fair, encouraging, supportive, appropriately challenging (and forgiving!). I have learnt a lot from you in terms of operational insights, decision-making, evidenced based policing and how to motivate a team. Thank you for going above and beyond to give up your time to informally coach me and to make me feel so valued as a colleague.

It has truly been a privilege to have been supported by Richard during my sergeants promotion process, a time when I didn’t have many others to turn to. Your willingness to respond to my coaching/mentoring request, made a significant impact on my journey. Your strategic-level coaching and mentoring sessions not only provided me with a great introduction into leadership but also helped me build confidence and prepare for the challenges ahead.

I have recently been successful in my promotion to Chief Inspector with Staffordshire Police. This milestone is a testament to the lasting influence of your guidance and support. Your inclusive approach and genuine support for people of all faiths and backgrounds have always stood out. It was a pleasure to introduce you to my family at the recent awards ceremony, a moment that highlighted the personal connection and respect you build with those you mentor.

Over the past few months you have worked tirelessly across 6 projects and can be proud that you have successfully achieved what we set out to do as well as enabling the force to define a recovery path back to normality. Looking back you successfully: Ensured the wellbeing of our people and the health of the organisation. Secured all resources and supplies required to support the current situation and beyond. Built resilience for critical functions such as Force Contact, Custody, Armed Policing and Public Order. Captured and learnt from what we have implemented and shared best practice across the Force. The amount of innovation, creativity and commitment you have shown has been inspiring, impressive and very much appreciated.

Thank you for all of your support to me over many years but particularly for your leadership over the past four months in developing the new local policing operating model in addition to successfully leading Wolverhampton. Your considerable experience, operational competence and personable style made you the ideal person to lead this work on behalf of the Local Policing portfolio and you did not disappoint

Just wanted to say a big thank you for how you have “handled” the challenges of delivering the benefits with Force Contact. It was a really tough ask to deliver, what were in the main, theoretical benefits, and you really rose to the challenge. Our Organisational Change Board recognised that the service offer to the public has improved dramatically and innovatively and that’s ultimately what we are here for.

I have really loved working with you and really admire how you can mix a down to earth practical approach with real strategic vision – you have made my job so much easier and you’ve bought the CSP such a long way during your time as chair.

I have been blessed with working closely with you and your teams over the years and I absolutely love working with you. It goes without saying, this is down to great leadership! Thank you for everything you do to make Wolverhampton as great as it is! You have helped restore so much faith in policing and preventative work and partnership working, an example to all other forces and areas!

Thank you for the outstanding contribution you have made to our Commonwealth Games policing operation. I believe this policing operation has been the most important thing we have done as a force in my twelve years here, if not in our history. I am so incredibly proud of what we have delivered for the public and our region. We have led a contingency of colleagues from across the country as one team and showcased the best of policing. You will have left a lasting impression on visitors.
